International Mother Language Day Celebration 2025

On February 21st, 2025, students from the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) at NMAJS came together to celebrate International Mother Language Day. The event was a vibrant and interactive celebration of linguistic diversity, fostering an inclusive atmosphere for learners from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

The day was filled with engaging activities designed to showcase the richness of languages worldwide. Students participated in lively Sing-Along Sessions in French, Tamil, Swahili, and Bengali, enjoying each language's unique melodies and rhythms. Informative presentations in Swahili, Luo, and Tulu introduced students to these lesser-known languages' fascinating origins, cultural significance, and linguistic features. A dedicated session on Marathi explored the diverse dialects and variations within languages, deepening understanding of linguistic diversity. A captivating dramatic scene in Hindi demonstrated the crucial role of language in theatrical storytelling. Students also engaged in a hands-on bookmark crafting session in Gujarati, blending creativity with language appreciation by writing phrases and quotes. The celebration was a resounding success, promoting multilingual appreciation and cultural exchange. Students left with a deeper connection to their mother languages and a newfound enthusiasm for linguistic diversity, reinforcing the importance of preserving and celebrating all languages, including endangered ones.
