Viivaan Srinivasan of NMAJS MYP Class 8 A has achieved an exceptional international milestone, with his wildlife photographs shortlisted by the Natural History Museum, London, for the Photographer of the Year competition.
Viivaan entered the 11–14 years category and has successfully qualified for the final round of the competition—an extraordinary accomplishment considering the scale and global stature of the event. In 2025, the competition received over 60,000 entries from 113 countries, making it one of the most prestigious wildlife photography platforms in the world.
The shortlisted image was captured at the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra, and powerfully depicts a rare moment in the wild—featuring a leopard and an Indian gaur sharing the same frame. Titled “Showdown on the Jungle Path”, the photograph reflects Viivaan’s keen eye for storytelling, timing, and composition.
In Viivaan’s own words, the image captures a calm yet tense moment between two powerful animals, evoking the unpredictability and drama of the natural world. His ability to observe, interpret, and artistically present such a moment at a young age speaks volumes about his creative vision and growing mastery as a wildlife photographer.
