Class 3 Organises a Trade Fair
The "How We Organise Ourselves" Unit of Inquiry in Class 3 reached an exciting and real-world conclusion with a bustling Trade Fair, a testament to the students' journey, through Project-Based Learning. This culmination served as a powerful platform for them to apply the knowledge and skills they developed over the past weeks.
The unit's exploration centred around trade systems, their historical evolution, and their societal impact, all under the guiding principle: "Systems of trade and money impact human society." To deepen their understanding, students collaboratively conceived and developed their trade ventures. This involved not only creating tangible products or offering services but also strategising marketing approaches and preparing for the realities of trade.
The Trade Fair transformed our learning space into a lively marketplace. Students actively engaged in the roles of buyers and sellers, utilising math manipulatives to trade in money, conduct transactions, calculate change, and manage their finances. This hands-on simulation provided a concrete link to their mathematical learning, even extending to an introductory understanding of the banking system. .
The Trade Fair was a true celebration of their learning, reflecting the integration of transdisciplinary concepts in a meaningful and engaging way.
