Embracing Tradition through Gudi Padwa Celebrations
The Primary School celebrated Gudi Padwa with great enthusiasm and cultural spirit, allowing students to learn about and appreciate the significance of this traditional festival. The event was thoughtfully planned by the Language team to engage students through various aspects of the festival, ensuring that they understood the festival’s meaning, rituals, and cultural relevance.
The programme began with a student-led presentation, where children spoke about Gudi Padwa, its historical and mythological significance, and why it is considered an auspicious occasion. They explained that Gudi Padwa marks the beginning of the Maharashtrian New Year and symbolizes victory, prosperity, and new beginnings. Students also highlighted how people celebrate the festival by hoisting the Gudi, preparing special dishes like ‘puran poli’, and wishing each other.
To further enrich the celebration, a lively singing and dancing performance was presented by the students, showcasing folk songs and dances associated with Maharashtrian culture. Their energetic performance, complete with vibrant costumes and synchronized movements, captivated the audience and added to the festive atmosphere.
The entire programme was deeply rooted in the cultural context, helping children connect with the traditions and values of Gudi Padwa.
