PYP Read Aloud 2026: Global Stories

Our annual PYP Read Aloud celebration this year centred around the inspiring theme, Global Stories — a tribute to voices, cultures, and perspectives from around the world.

Storytelling unfolded across the campus in collaborative learning spaces, the tree house, specialist rooms, lawns, and open areas. These thoughtfully chosen venues created warm, intimate reading circles where students gathered to listen, reflect and engage in meaningful dialogue.

Teachers, school leaders and our valued parent guest readers brought stories from different countries and cultures to life. Through narratives rooted in diverse traditions and lived experiences, students journeyed across continents, discovering both the uniqueness of different communities and the shared human values that connect us.

The experience extended beyond the read-aloud sessions. A thoughtfully designed follow-up activity encouraged students to respond creatively and reflectively to the stories they heard. Whether through art, craft, writing, dance, song, discussion or collaborative tasks, students deepened their understanding of global perspectives and expressed their learning with enthusiasm and insight.

Global Stories beautifully supported the development of international-mindedness- a cornerstone of the IB PYP philosophy. The celebration reminded us that stories are powerful bridges: they nurture empathy, broaden perspectives, and help young learners see themselves as part of a diverse and interconnected world.
