Little eyes. Big wonder

Our Nursery, LKG and UKG learners stepped into a world of light, reflection, and imagination at the Doug Aitken: Under the Sun exhibition at NMACC. From shimmering surfaces to ever-changing perspectives, the experience invited our young explorers to pause, notice, and respond with curiosity.

At this early age, appreciation for art begins with simply looking, feeling, and wondering. Through this visit, our learners discovered that art isn’t just something you see — it’s something you experience.

Class 1 - Guest Speaker Session: Mr. Raja 

Class 1 learners actively participated in an engaging session with our guest speaker, Mr. Raja, an architect, who shared valuable insights into how geographical features and environmental factors shape building design across different regions and countries. Through an interactive presentation, students learned how architects and interior designers make thoughtful design choices based on local environments. The session also emphasized the importance of sustainable home construction in protecting and preserving the environment. To deepen their understanding, learners explored architectural maps/design plans, and models of various home types and materials, observing how environmental conditions influence the way people live. 

PHEY Yoga Assembly Celebrating Shivaji Jayanti

The PHEY Yoga Assembly, themed around Shivaji Jayanti and dedicated to worshipping Lord Shiva, was held on 18^th February 2026. The assembly beautifully blended tradition, devotion, and inspiration with enthusiastic participation from students of Grade I to V across all divisions, making it a truly inclusive and vibrant celebration.

Staying true to NMAJS tradition of invoking divine blessings, the assembly began with the collective chanting of the Gayatri Mantra by the participants and the audience. One of the Key highlight was the powerful Shivaji Garjana honoring the courage and leadership of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, where all stood still with hands on their heart in unity and respect.

Through a short narrative, it was showcased how he fulfilled his promise to his mother by capturing the Torna Fort at the age of 16, reinforcing the importance of goal setting. 

The assembly concluded with a synchronized yoga performance to Shiv Tandav Stotram and an oath to uphold courage, discipline, integrity, and leadership - values that strongly align with our school's ethos.
 

The Flip Side: Re-writing the Narrative.

On 18 February 2026, student leaders from Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School, hosted a Round Square Postcard titled “The Flip Side: Re-writing the Narrative.” Conceptualised and executed by students from MYP Grade 8, the Postcard aimed to challenge the traditional hero-versus-villain framework that defines many of the fairytale’s children grow up with. What started as a simple curiosity about perspective soon evolved into a powerful exploration of bias, motivation, and empathy. 

Fairytales are often presented in a clear and uncomplicated manner: a virtuous hero, a wicked villain, and a storyline that leaves little room for ambiguity. From childhood, children are guided to support one character and reject another, rarely encouraged to question the narrative structure itself. However, when these stories are examined from an alternative point of view, their simplicity dissolves into complexity.

It was this realisation that became the foundation of the Postcard. The Flip Side encouraged delegates to reconsider first impressions, to question dominant narratives, and to recognise how easily stories are shaped by the perspective of the storyteller. By imagining the untold side of familiar fairy tales, delegates began to reflect on how stereotypes form and how assumptions take root, not only in literature, but in everyday life. With the theme in place, months of preparation followed. 

An integral component planned in the Postcard were the breakout discussions led by student facilitators. Each Baraza was named after a traditional protagonist or antagonist from globally recognised fairytales, drawing inspiration from stories across different cultures. These sessions became the heart of the experience.

Within the breakout rooms, delegates reimagined classic fairytales from the perspective of the “villain,” while distinguishing fairy tales from other literary forms such as mythology and short stories. They also examined how cultural identity influences storytelling and debated whether stereotypes shape perspectives or whether perspectives shape stereotypes. The engaging and interactive discussions allowed delegates to move beyond passive listening. Instead, they analysed motivations, questioned assumptions, and explored how context alters understanding.

The execution of the Postcard on18th February was marked by both excitement and challenge. With participants joining from across Asia, Africa, and North America, the Postcard served as an eye-opener for the young minds. As the senior Round Square leaders mentored their juniors, they discovered that leadership is not about control, but about guidance, collaboration, and adaptability. As the session progressed, initial nervousness gradually gave way to confidence and enthusiasm. The atmosphere shifted from polite formality to genuine curiosity. By the end of the Postcard, it was evident that “The Flip Side” had resonated. Delegates walked away with more than a reinterpretation of fairytales; they carried with them a renewed commitment to empathy and open-mindedness in their everyday interactions.

Looking back, the experience proved transformative for the hosts. As they deconstructed traditional narratives, they found themselves examining their own tendencies to label and judge. Beyond the intellectual exploration, the process strengthened resilience and teamwork. Coordinating schedules, managing tight deadlines, mentoring peers, and navigating moments of stress that taught discipline, communication, and mutual support. It became a reminder that when stereotypes are questioned, spaces for empathy and meaningful dialogue are created. The Postcard reflected collective ownership and effort, of student agency in action.

Nursery Learning Celebration

Our Nursery learners welcomed their parents for a very special Learning Celebration this week. 

As part of their inquiry into Who We Are, the children have been exploring big ideas like identity, belonging, and emotions — and their installations beautifully brought that learning to life. From sharing who they are to expressing how they feel, our littlest learners showed just how capable they truly are 

Parents were invited to explore the spaces alongside their children, and it was a joy to watch those proud smiles, gentle encouragements, and meaningful conversations unfold. Moments like these remind us how powerful learning can be when school and home come together

Coding with Curiosity: Scratch Jr in Action

Interested students from PYP Classes 2 and 3 participated enthusiastically in the Scratch Jr. Coding Competition, creating an atmosphere of excitement and focused engagement. With their thinking caps firmly in place, they designed creative and challenging games! Staying true to the given themes, ‘Space Exploration’ and ‘Under the Sea’, the students demonstrated impressive creativity and problem-solving skills. The results were nothing short of outstanding. Congratulations and kudos to all the finalists for their commendable efforts!

Class 1 - Shadow Puppet Storytelling session

Class 1 students participated in an engaging Shadow Puppet Storytelling session based on The Lion King. The creative use of light, screen, and puppets brought the story to life, capturing the children’s attention and sparking their imagination.

As the characters appeared as shadows on the screen, students watched with great excitement, developing listening skills, creativity, and an understanding of storytelling. The session encouraged curiosity, active engagement, and thoughtful responses throughout the performance.

This experience also introduced students to the art of shadow puppet storytelling in connection with their unit How We Express Ourselves, highlighting how stories are used to share ideas, express emotions, and connect with others.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the session, making it a memorable learning experience that beautifully blended creativity, expression, and storytelling.
